If you were on the internet this weekend, you probably saw it. LeBron James sitting at a table, reflecting on his future, teasing a massive announcement. For a few tense moments, everyone thought this was it. The King was finally retiring.
For those who don’t follow basketball, LeBron is one of the greatest players of all time, and his original “Decision” back in 2010 was when he announced he was leaving Cleveland for Miami. This was a cultural moment that broke the internet before “breaking the internet” was even a thing.
So when he hinted at a “Decision 2,” everyone assumed it was a retirement speech. But instead, it turned out to be a Hennessy campaign; a clever, perfectly executed fake-out that had millions of people tuned in to watch a commercial.
It’s a reminder that the best “decisions” aren’t always about stepping away. Sometimes they’re about doubling down, reinventing, or taking your next big shot. Whether it’s LeBron extending his legacy or you finding your next role, the timing of a great move is everything.
